Welcome to TFAS!

New Student Member Guide

Even though you are still a student, you are officially a member of our community that has been helping artists for over 100 years. You will have the same rights and opportunities of any Independent member.

We value your input! Here’s where you begin.

Get involved with our community.
a.    The best way to meet everyone is to attend board member meetings, which include two representatives from each member organization and each individual member.
i.    Every organization representative and individual member is invited to our board meetings. They usually extend from September through June each year on first Saturday of the month and begin at 10:10 am. This tradition has been in place since 1917, when our meeting location was at the Toledo Museum of Art, which is still our home base for the Saturday meetings. Link here for the current calendar of dates and locations.
ii.    We also have casual evening meetings before our special programs or workshops, which are hosted by our member organizations at their locations. Details are available months in advance.
b.     Share your expertise and learn from others by joining a committee!
i.    TFAS has seven official standing committees. They are:
1.    Constitution, Standing Rules & Nominating Committee
2.    Finance & Fundraising Committee
3.    Marketing & Development Committee
4.    Membership & Recruitment Committee
5.    Exhibitions Committee
6.    Permanent Collection Committee
7.    Executive Board (Elected Officers only)
ii.    We also develop short-term special-topic ad-hoc committees as needed for specific tasks. You will find out about them during the meetings or in your monthly minutes and/or newsletter.
iii.    Please don’t be shy about letting us know if you are interested in being involved with any of the committees! We always welcome another perspective and pair of hands!
