$4,000+ in awards, including the Kingston Healthcare Purchase Award for an outstanding artwork to enter the Toledo Federation of Art Societies Permanent Collection, joining over 70 years of outstanding Toledo regional art.
The TFAS 100+5: Juried Regional Exhibition is open to all artists within the greater Toledo area. Independent membership to the Toledo Federation of Art Societies (TFAS) and a listing in the TFAS Membership Directory is included in the entry fee.
Following the guidelines of the original TFAS exhibits from more than 100 years ago, all submitted work must be available for purchase.

About the Show
TFAS 100+5: Juried Regional Exhibition is a juried, all-media exhibition hosted by The University of Toledo, Department of Art at the Center for the Visual Arts (a member organization of TFAS), and open to artists in the greater Toledo/Northwest Ohio/Southeast Michigan region.
The Juror
Artwork and juried honors to be selected by distinguished guest judge Charles A. Shepard III, President & CEO, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Eligibility
This all-media competition is open to artists 18 years of age and older in the greater-Toledo area, including Allen, Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, Wood and Wyandot counties in Ohio; Lenawee, Monroe and Washtenaw counties in Michigan. Each entrant may submit up to three (3) works of art. Submitted artwork must be original in concept and execution, and created no earlier than 2019.
Artists submitting work for exhibition are not required to have previously been Independent members of the Toledo Federation of Art Societies (TFAS) but shall accept that application to the exhibition includes one (1) year of Independent membership in the organization. Current Independent members of TFAS applying for exhibition shall receive one (1) additional year of Independent membership upon receipt of their application fee. All Independent members of TFAS will be listed in the TFAS Membership Directory.
Exhibit Information
TFAS 100+5: Juried Regional Exhibition
is a continuation of former annual juried regional exhibitions coordinated by the Toledo Federation of Art Societies (TFAS) since 1918 and now presented biannually. TFAS was established in 1917 with the mission to unite area arts organizations, promote area artists, and maintain a permanent collection of Toledo area artists’ work.
- During the exhibit, TFAS will promote engagement and exhibited artists’ involvement at public events occurring at the exhibit, including Artists’ Talks and the TFAS summer members’ gathering.
- The Center for the Visual Arts Gallery at The University of Toledo, Department of Art is located on the campus of Toledo Museum of Art at 620 Art Museum Drive, Toledo, Ohio 43620.
- Center for the Visual Arts regular hours are Monday–Friday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Additional gallery hours are Saturday, June 18, from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 9, from noon to 3 p.m. and Saturday, August 6, from noon to 3 p.m. (Gallery hours are subject to change to meet updated COVID-19 and The University of Toledo guidelines.)
- A digital catalogue will be created including award-winners, exhibition information, a listing of all exhibited artists’ names and cities, artwork titles, medium and values. The catalogue will be available online at tfas100.org, accessible via QR code posted within the exhibit.
- Application deadline is March 25, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.
- Notifications of accepted work will be sent by April 30, 2022.
Application Requirements
- All artwork must have been created within the last three (3) years, from 2019 to 2022.
- No work that has been previously shown in a TFAS exhibition will be accepted.
- All artwork submitted must be original work by the artist: No kit-work, hosted-group painting subjects, or reproduction prints of original works.
- All ssubmitted work must be for sale and suitable for display in an academic venue. The University of Toledo and TFAS reserve the right to have final determination regarding inclusion/exclusion of specific works that may pose a hazard or hardship to the institutions, their staff and patrons
- Certain material restrictions apply to media (no food, live organic items, liquids, etc. Some restrictions on digital installation also apply.) See a complete list of these restricted items here.
- All submission materials, including artwork images, will be submitted electronically.
- All 2D entries must be suitably finished (such as matte/frame/canvas wrap, etc.) for presentation: wired for hanging (brackets, saw-tooth bars or Swiss clips are not acceptable); no scratches on frames, mattes, or clear acrylic. Non-conventional wall-hanging pieces must have their hanging devices included. It shall be at the discretion of the TFAS Exhibition committee to not accept/install any artwork for which framing/hanging is deemed to be unsatisfactory.
- Size restrictions for submitted/exhibited work: 2D artwork may not exceed 36” in any dimension; 3D artwork may not exceed 24” W x 24” D x 72” H and may weigh no more than 100 lbs.
- No work will be accepted that requires the artist to be present for installation.
- The TFAS Exhibition Committee shall exclusively handle submission materials, artist communication and contracts, artwork intake, installations and release of artwork.
- TFAS has exclusive responsibility and management of the collection of submission fees. 100% of submission fee income shall go to TFAS to further their community programming.
- The artist accepts that, if selected for exhibition, the work will remain on display for the exhibition’s duration, through 3:00 p.m., August 6, 2022.
- Loss or Damage Liability: TFAS and The University of Toledo cannot assume any liability for loss or damage, however caused. Submission of an entry to this exhibition constitutes agreement by the artist to all the terms and conditions which are contained herein: waiver.
- TFAS reserves the right to release/publish images of the accepted work to publicize the exhibit and promote the artists’ work to potential purchasers.
- Artist to receive 70% of artwork sales. 30% of artwork sales will comprise a tax-deductible contribution to TFAS from the artist: TFAS will receive 10% of artwork sales for furthering their community programming; TFAS will dedicate 20% of artwork sales to fund an award for the 2023 Juried Student Exhibition of The University of Toledo, Department of Art at the Center for the Visual Arts.
- Exhibited artwork must be claimed by the artist (or artist’s designated agent) by August 7, 2022, unless specifically agreed upon, in writing, by the artist and TFAS. Any necessary storage of artwork after that date (as arranged by both parties) shall be the financial responsibility of the artist.
- Payment of artists’ commission (70%) for any sales will be made by TFAS within thirty (30) days of the close of the exhibit.
Awards
Prize monies total more than $4,000 in awards, including juried honors and the Kingston Healthcare Purchase Award of up to $1,500. The Kingston Healthcare Purchase Award enables the acquisition of an outstanding artwork for the prestigious Toledo Federation of Art Societies’ permanent public collection, acquired from 1948 to the present.

- Assistance is available for artists experiencing difficulties in application due to computer or system issues. Email info@tfas100.org for more details. Note: Staff will be available to assist only until March 23.
- Complete the online application in full, which includes the following five (5) items. These items may also be used for the membership directory and exhibition catalogue. Submission is not complete until all application items have been uploaded and the non-refundable $40 submission fee is paid via PayPal or credit card through the TFAS website by March 25, 2022, 11:59 p.m.

- Digital images: One (1) image of each submitted work, as well as one (1)optional detail image, for a total of no more than four (4)images. If accepted, images may be used in exhibition publicity and to assist potential sales of the work.
- In the event of video artwork submissions, one (1) still image will be required per video. Each submitted video artwork must be hyperlinked, on a separate, dedicated line within the artist’s submitted Artist Statement PDF. Each video hyperlink shall constitute one (1) artwork submission.
- Images of 2D work must be photographed without glazing (glass or clear acrylic) and may not include the frame unless it is an integral part of the piece. Ideally, the image should be photographed before framing. Poor quality images will result in the work being disqualified. Submitted images must match the juried artwork, in all aspects of appearance. Artwork delivered for exhibition not matching the submitted images will be ineligible for installation and awards.

- Images must be submitted in .JPG format, of at least 300 DPI, with the longest dimension being 2000 pixels. Transmitted file should be no less than 500KB and no larger than 2MB per image. Details on working with image files are available on the
